POLISH FESTIVAL
Once a year in July, Lagrange Street is transformed into a truly
ethnic Polish Village. And every year tens of thousands of visitors
help our neighborhood celebrate its Polish heritage. You'll
find games for the children, polka bands and dance contests,
and a variety of craft and food vendors featuring pierogies,
kielbasa, and delicious Polish pastries such as paczki and chrusciki.
This year's Lagrange Street Polish Festival will be held July
11, 12 and 13. The festival starts Friday at 5:00 p.m. All children's
activities begin on Saturday. There is no admission charge.
St. Hedwig Catholic Church at the corner of Lagrange and Dexter
holds its annual festival this same weekend, providing even
more opportunity for fun, games, and entertainment, including
a Polka Mass on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
This annual event is sponsored by the Lagrange Development Corporation
and helps fund neighborhood home improvement programs and high
school scholarships.
